As you may have read on the numerous websites about CBD skincare products, you may have noticed that some companies will mention how many milligrams of CBD are in the serum, cream, mask, or lotion product.

Typically, milligrams are used for dietary foods, supplements and drugs. The reason that milligrams are used on these products is to know the dosage amount or servings amount in a certain size or quantity of a food, supplement or drug.

The Dreaded Client Statement

As an esthetics professional, if you have been doing chemical peels for any period of time, you will eventually have a client say this dreaded statement:

  " nothing happened", "my skin did not peel".

There are many chemical peel products being sold incorporating additional "active or action ingredients" in the peel formula.

For example, there are chemical peel formulations that combine glycolic acid with peptides in the peel formula. 

We know that glycolic acid has positive effects on the skin and we know that various peptides have positive effects on the skin.

As per the XYZ company treatment instructions, we are to apply the glycolic acid peel with peptides on the skin for 3-5 minutes. Then we neutralize the glycolic acid peel, and then we thoroughly rinse the skin.

1.  Use at least 2-3 pumps of Hydro Cleansing Oil  

First, pump at least 2-3 pumps of Hydro Cleansing Oil into the palm of your hand. Gently rub your palms together to disperse the oil. You need sufficient oil for the cleansing properties to work. If you try to save by using a small drop of oil then you may find that the layer of oil is too thin to clean the skin properly.

2.   Massage the Hydro Cleansing Oil into the skin

 Question To Ask Your Client or Customer?  

Can you use your cleanser without applying a moisturizer after it?

Majority of clients and consumers will say "No".  Many will state that there is no way that they can cleanse/wash their face and not apply some type of cream or lotion to their face.  They say after cleansing, they "have to" apply something.

 Ask Yourself Why?   

They are not applying the moisturizer for "its functional ingredients", but to counter the effects of using the improper cleanser.

Peel Protocols are instructions or steps that are provided to the user on how to apply a particular chemical peel(s).  Protocols are meant to give the user application steps. Peel Protocols are not meant to educate someone about a chemical peel and do not replace chemical peel training. One of the most common question esthetic professionals ask when it comes to applying chemical peels is:

How long do I leave the peel on the skin?

This question is asked because that is what most skincare companies teach. There is much confusion as to how long a glycolic acid peel or lactic peel is left on the skin between one company versus another.  While knowing the application time is an important factor, this is not the most important factor. Knowing the "time' is not an absolute. It is a generic guideline.

Majority of the companies fail to teach about "end points".  These are referred to as visual end points.
